Who am I ?

About Me

Hello, my name is Lucie Walton. I have been a childminder in the Alford area since March 2022. I am registered with the Care Inspectorate and hold a full disclosure. I work from my own home in Alford, offering a high-quality, flexible childcare service where we will work together to ensure that your child has a routine that suits both you and them.

I aim to make your child feel safe and encourage them to have a lot of fun. I offer a variety of toys and educational resources.

I have plenty of toys, equipment for arts and crafts time, and also access to a varied selection of books and board games. We do morning yoga, singing, and much more, learning a lot through play. In the garden, we play with water, build mud kitchens, and children love creating obstacle courses, playing ball games, making sand pictures, or engaging in imaginative games, such as an ice cream shop or a play area for mums and dads.

We walk around Alford (woods, parks, playgrounds) daily, in all weather conditions, exploring and learning about the areas around us. We love splashing in puddles or having fun activities in the woods. Sometimes we have a snack in the woods too. I taught some of my minded children how to ride a balance bike, so this is our very popular activity too. Ride a balance bike in the woods.

I also use the local community parks, groups (Tuesday - toddler - I run this group with other childminders and bookbug on Thursdays as much as possible, encouraging your child to enjoy sociable experiences and interaction with other children of a similar age.) We are constantly out with other childminders or meeting them in the park for the social aspect. We love to visit the library for the LEGO club or to borrow books. My children love to visit local shops for chats with owners to. The Transport Museum is our local attraction to go to.

Snacks and lunch will be provided for a small fee if required.

Experience

I am a mother to a girl and a boy, and I have previously needed childcare myself, so I understand your worries and concerns.

I completed my Childminder induction training with the SCMA. I hold an SVQ3 in childcare, and I am currently studying for a BA in Childcare.  I completed Food Hygiene, Child Protection, Child Behaviour, Paediatric First Aid, and Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) courses through Aberdeenshire Council. Continuous training and development are something that I strongly believe in, as they help me deliver services to high-quality standards.

Following my excellent grades in the 2023 inspection, I became a funded provider, which means I can offer private and funded care in my setting.
